Steel Electrodes Crystal Cell – Rechargeable

More info below: Here we have a rechargeable steel electrodes crystal cell. 2x galvanized steel electrodes are used. The cell mixture is 90% Mapei Ultraflex mortar, a pinch of salt substitute and a pinch of Alum. The cell was formed while wet, with the 12V of the power supply. It fizzed and bubbled for the 30 seconds forming time. It was then sat on a window ledge for a week, to thoroughly dry out. I charge it with the 5V side of the power supply, through a 100ohm resistor. The current draw is 30mA when doing so and the charge time is typically a couple of minutes. Impedance matching tests and respective voltage readings haven’t been done yet. i’m just glad to see this non toxic, same metals rechargeable cell running 🙂 Future versions would have more electrode area, this was just a test. The cell would then be able to deliver more than the skinny electrodes do on this one.
