Epsom salt, MnO2, and Carbon rechargeable battery

This is a homemade rechargeable battery that uses Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate), manganese dioxide, and water. The electrodes are both carbon rods out of a D cell zinc/ carbon battery. The MnO2 was obtained out of the D cell also. Before a charge was placed on the cell (using a 6 volt battery), a voltage reading was taken to ensure that there was no power in the cell.
