Thin Graphite used on Electrostatic Motor

This shows an electrostatic motor that uses thin graphite instead of aluminum for the rotor segments and the motor brushes. The rotor segments were made by simply using a pencil rubbed on sanded strips of the platic rotor. The brushes were made using powdered graphite on clear tape.
