Don Smith Device Project Part 32: Stepdown Coil Tune and Resonance at 53Khz

im back, properly tuning the stepdown coils using the LEDs to find max brightness on L2 with simultaneous max resistance on L1, and comparing the standard power vs the Smith setup. This time i used 40v AC at 200mA (8 watts) and found equal brightness to the standard 20 watt DC consumption. The light is a red/yellow from the regular DC, and a white/blue from the Smith system, so i dont know how we can properly compare them, but i still see a gain. L1 has 15nF, 628uH and the planned freq was 51.8Khz, but the actual freq was approx 53Khz and L2 strangely worked best with 10nF at 40uH, must be a harmonic of 251Khz I think soon i will do a boiling water time test. I wonder now that we have such effective HF drivers,if we even need to have the stepup coils? we already have lots of HV
