Don Smith Device Project Part 27: Center-Tap Revival, and Caduceus L1 Resonant At All Frequencies

wanted to show you all something special, i went back to the center-tap, based on Dynatrons work, and used a Caduceus winding for L1. Due to the center being the negative now, L1 needed to be shortened using the 1/4 length rule, and i was sure to cut off about 7 inches of L1 to use for the spark-gap connectors rather than adding more wire. The most interesting thing is that the bulb on L1 is never lit,(it does work tho) a “resistance anomoly” where there is seemingly resonance at all frequencies. L2 reacts at its standard ring, based on its physical dimensions and added capacitance, which sets its freq. approx 970Khz Very pleased, now to capture it properly, it would be nice to catch it at its highest voltage, but im starting to see that i’ll have to step-down before it hits the caps
