Joule Thief: DALM with AG-4 Battery Thermoelectric Effect
Here’s a demonstration of a fascinating effect I just discovered.
WARNING: Batteries can explode if overheated! Don’t try this unless you think you know what you are doing, and WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. I am not responsible if you blow up a battery in your face and blind yourself for life.
ERRATUM: I call the battery an AG-3 but it is actually the AG-4 / LR626 which is even smaller.
Heating the depleted battery seems to either liberate more of the stored energy or convert the heat to electrical energy, enough to power the DALM Joule Thief brightly.
