Coat Hanger and Water Bottle Pulse Motor
This shows how to make a simple electric pulse motor using a coat hanger and an empty plastic water bottle. No tools are needed to build this simple kitchen counter top motor. It runs on one AA battery.

This is a ‘normally open’ type that closes when a magnet is near. There are many other places to find this switch. They are used in security systems and I like them because they come with a mounting bracket and wires. Ebay is another source.
