? Question Mark Motor ?

This is a partial replication of a ‘self start’ pulse motor by Slider 2732 here on YouTube. I had some trouble getting it to work but ended up with a success. I’m not sure exactly why it works. How does this thing self start??? Any comments are welcome. Thanks.
