An R/C X-Wing

A homemade Star Wars X-Wing Fighter.
The idea follows the TIE Fighter made from a Hubsan X4 quadcopter and the ‘launch’ of Air-Hogs X-Wing for the forthcoming release of Episode VII.

A bit different, this has the canards of the Air-Hogs version and elevon connecting rods…but has the X shape.
Dollar Tree foam for the body, take out tray foam for the wings.
There is a metal rod from a kitchen rack/tray down the fuselage (which has been of great use fending off tree trunk damage !).
The wings have been sanded with flying wing principles in mind. As such, the X is considered as 2 separate flying wings, one with large dihedral, one with large anhedral.

A lot of fun and well worth the excercise…of running after it too lol
Most of the point of the recent return to building stuff that flies from foam, has been to strengthen leg muscles, with repairs to my prolapsed disc in the back now moving on well.

The hat cam was used to gain the flight footage – no audio with that, so the quite excellent track ‘One’, by Sirius Beat was used:
