Scoposcopy: Rigol DS1054Z Freeze Bug Part 3: Frozen on Boot-Up

It is possible to find that the scope is Frozen/Locked on Boot-Up !!

Because of an interaction with _another_ seeming bug that I just discovered…. The scope can be Turned Off in a normal, working state, and then when it is turned back on, it is Frozen! Immediately and automatically FROZEN!

If the user doesn’t know about the “5th Left Grey Button reset” feature (which seems to be undocumented) they are left with an essentially “bricked” scope that can’t be unfrozen by power-cycling!

I don’t know if other users with the “Bug” have also been able to reproduce this “locked on startup” condition yet.

But as time goes on we have had more and more owners reporting that they CAN reproduce the basic Freezebug. Overall the score is still about half-and-half, out of over 25 scope owners reporting their results of testing.

I’ve contacted Rigol Tech Support about this issue but haven’t heard more than just the standard auto-response message. It’s the weekend, so I don’t expect to hear more from them for a few days.
