Here are some old pictures rendered as a Slideshow from 2005 from my harddisk, when I did not yet have a Youtube account, which I am going to upload now.

These are of the disassembling of an Ion Valves Cells from Bruce A. Perreault
( www.nuenergy.com) , some kind of Saltwater-electrolyte Durafix-Rods-Graphite cylinder cells. putting out about 1.35 Volts each.

Unfortunately the Durafix rods which is a ZAMAK alloy, did decompose over time, but they have quite a long life in this configuration.
The Durafix rod, which is normally used to solder and repair broken aluminium cases, is inserted into a Graphite cylinder.

Around the Zamak (Durafix) Rod was put graphite powder
which was soaked in saltwater.
The graphite powder enhanced the current amperage output of the cell.
The Zamak rod builds up a dark grey layer, which is like the diaphragma in this cell and shields the Zamak rod from fast decomposition.
But after a few months the ZAMAK alloy does decompose, mostly to Chloride salts, like Zink Chloride, which forms white transparent crystalls around the Durafix rod after a while inside the graphite powder.

Bruce A. Perreault has sold these cells around 2005.

Regards, Stefan.
