Quick and Dirty 3: Melexis US1881 Latching Hall Effect Sensor Demo

I had some of these Hall Effect sensors in the box so I thought I would check one out.

The 1881 is a Latching switch that stays ON or OFF after the magnet pole moves away, and needs to be exposed to the opposite pole to change state. This is great for some applications. Other non-latching Hall sensors or ratiometric Hall sensors are useful for other applications.

The Melexis 1881 works over a very wide range of supply voltages. I was surprised at how well it worked at 3V.

The schematics at the end are reproduced from the Melexis data sheet as a Fair Use educational aid. Thanks for watching!
