Part 2 – No steel – Battery as the core

Whether it’s just the casing of this battery that i’m using that does it, but the Joule Thief is now running with no steel beneath the coils !
I must be missing something lol

Anyway, the battery is a 1.2V Ni-MH of 350mAh, from a standard solar garden light.
