CAT Exciter – The Italian job

A rather strange circuit was emailed to me from Italy the other day. The chap has little experience in electronics, calling himself a newbie and wished to find out if the circuit would work. I said i’d gladly build it and find out. The twist to all this, is that Ciro dreamed the circuit and, in the dream, his grandfather stated that communications between them were possible by building it ! Two prongs extended from a box that the circuit was housed in and those prongs enabled a fluorescent tube to light when near them. The circuit runs and is intended to be worked on further, to make it more exacting to the actual description of operation. The variable capacitor does change parameters, allowing a small variance in output tuning. The exciter steps down the brightness of the LED in 3 stages, rather than a slow adjustment intensity, which again seems somewhat unique. The 2 lead plates ‘cellphone’ cell can be found in my previous recent videos. It’s constructed from the Negative plates of a bulged out, dried out UB1245 gel cell battery. Neutralized with baking Soda, the plates now have 2x cotton balls between, that were soaked in an Alum/distilled water solution. The conical oscillator is a blocking oscillator, with the circuit being under the black cardboard seen. An AV plug and antenna wire allow wireless power to run it. The conical shape is made from a telephone/PC modem 2 wire cord. The tower seen is the Windsor, built and shown last year. Does the SW type radio noise
