Electric OU: Tar Baby and the Dim Bulb Test Part 2

(No Audio) (Time Lapse Video, shot at 1 fps, played back at 5 fps) 4 batteries were fully charged with an automatic automotive battery charger. One was randomly selected and set aside. The other three were used for several days of load testing and continuous running in the Ainslie preferred oscillation mode, heating a load to 125 degrees F and making lots of waveform and scoposcopy demos. When the 3-battery pack dropped below 30 volts indicated, bench testing was halted and the batteries allowed to settle overnight. Then they were set on the bookshelf for the DIM BULB TEST part 2. Two of the Tar Baby batteries dimmed out immediately and were unplugged. The third persisted for a bit longer, while the “set-aside” battery continued to burn its bulb brightly. Conclusion: the batteries used to run Tar Baby to heat a load and to make scoposcopy demos did discharge while doing it. Batteries: 12 V, 5 AH sealed lead acid Bulbs: #1157 with both filaments in parallel Charger: Penske Model 7061261 DUT: TarBaby, a replication of the Ainslie NERD device Duck: Ganz
