Iron Pyrite and Steel Cats Whisker Cell

This shows a Iron Pyrite rock powering my “Penny” oscillator. The rock has a small steel screw threaded into a crevice of the rock as the (+) contact point. A piece of steel wire is used as a “Cat’s Whisker” to find a negative point in crevices on the crystal rock. Later experiments showed that water trapped in small mineral deposits in the crevices provide the the electrolyte area necessary for the cell to function. When the rock was dried throughly with hot air—-it stopped. When a tiny amount of water was applied —the cell was reactivated.
