Dr Stiffler SEC with SGate

Here is Dr. Stiffler’s SEC configured the correct way with an added SGate. The coils are arreanged correctly and the transistor is the correct one. This is running on a 12volt power source at less than 10 milliamps and lighting up up a neon. I am unable at this time to illuminate a fluorescent bulb from the device. Perhaps someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. I am able to disconect the resistor from the base of the transistor once the unit is running.
