This small video to show that if you orient 2 square magnets sideways (i mean that the poles are not facing the core of the coil ) on the rotor, and that your core is half the width of the magnet, depending of the distance of the core and the rotor and the timing, you get very different current trace and you can almost disperse all the flyback spike.
I don’t know if it helps but anyway very interesting.
