Pill Bottle Electric Motor

This is a homemade electric motor that uses a pill bottle as the main structure for the motor. The rotor assembly is a diametrically magnetized neo ‘ring magnet’ mounted on a brass shaft. Small holes drilled into the plastic bottle ends are the bearing surfaces. The drive coil is a plastic sewing machine bobbin filled up with 30 Ga magnet wire. A hole large enough to fit the coil is cut into the side of the bottle and clear tape is used to hold the air core coil in place. Energizing the coil in a pulsed fashion turns the rotor. Several different methods may be used to do the switching but I show the motor being run here using a simple two transistor circuit developed by DadHav. The motor operates on 1v to 3v DC.
