Homemade Hat Cam

Using an old baseball cap, the Hubsan X4 2MP camera was mounted to it today. The idea is to get flight footage of various aircraft, or to use in more general ways, when spare hands aren’t available.
With my wife now having to use a walking stick, another video route had to be found.

The camera is a ‘spare’ for the Hubsan X4 quadcopter. Cost was approx $20 on Ebay. lipo used is 250mAh, same as on the Spitfire and runs the camera for at least 45 minutes.

The Spitfire is made of Dollar Tree foam for the profile fuselage and Cellfoam 88/take out tray foam for the wings.
Receiver is an ItCanFly 900MHz
Actuator is 400 turns of 40AWG with magnet, mounted in the tail.
Motor is 7mm direct drive, with a Hubsan prop. The nose is a bit mangled with having tried 6mm, 7mm and 8mm. The 8mm is the ‘Merlin’, sending it vertical, but I wasn’t sure that the receiver would handle it for several minutes flights !
The 7mm is a good all rounder, able to handle the mild wind today without much of an issue and cruise at around 1/2 throttle.
Battery is 1S 250mAh…with a flight time of around 15 minutes.
AUW is 12 grams.
