Scoposcopy: DS1054Z, 555 Charge Pump Inverter: Use of AC Coupling

Here’s a quick demonstration of why we might use AC-coupled input. A large DC offset with a tiny ripple on top is a typical signal where AC-coupling can be used.

The AC-coupling removes the DC offset and moves the average of the ripple down to the channel baseline, where it can be amplified and displayed at high resolution without running off the screen vertically.

There is some ripple on the output of the 555 charge pump inverter, as well, but I didn’t show the output ripple in this video.
