Extreme High Voltage: TinselKoil 8 w/ Slayer Driver

A progress report showing the new driver board, a modified Slayer Exciter.

Here the bipolar coil is just operating in the unipolar mode as an Exciter with the 2sd2333 horizontal deflection transistor doing the oscillations. I haven’t been able to get these HD transistors to trigger without the actual connection to the bottom end of the secondary coil yet, but I believe it is possible to get it working using just an antenna or coil pickup, perhaps with different transistor or a cmos chip working off of the electric field of the seconday.

For this demonstration the driver is being fed with 24 volts and is drawing about 450 mA. The transistor does get hot but it is on a good heatsink and can safely operate at over 100 degreed C, and it has not gotten anywhere near that hot… yet!
