Electric OU: Supplement: DMM Average Current Measurement Validation

The DMM can be surprisingly accurate, to give an average reading on even complex oscillating signals. Here the SWeir board is driven at 1 kHz for the primary frequency and is oscillating strongly at 4.2 MHz during the Q2 oscillation phases. The DMM measures the average current to within less than 5 percent error compared to the Link DSO’s mean Vdrop/Rcsr indication for the same signal.
