New build Wind Turbine
After the storm a couple of months back brought down my other backyard wind turbine, the opportunity arose to build another. I was looking for a stepper motor to try some TinMan type experiments and instead found quite a strong DC motor. Pair that with an old box fan with a dead motor and this idea is now running 🙂
Top output so far has been in a 10mph wind.
4.14V and 210mA
Pretty healthy stuff !
Average winds of today, around 5mph, have seen 1.7V and 80mA output, ideal for battery charging.
In a way, it’s a shame that the project hasn’t been Tesla related…it’s his Birthday today !
