Arduino 16b: Diode Increases Performance of MagLev System
I put a diode RL30a across the coil to snub the coil’s ringdown. As a result, I am able to operate stably at lower input voltages, or get much better levitation distance at the same voltages I used before. Also, the noise is gone, now I can just barely hear it. The mosfet now stays cold. The coil, of course, still warms up.
I scavenged the diode from a discarded TV chassis.
