Joule Thief: Supplement: Illustration of Receiver Coil Tuning with Added Capacitance
This video was inspired by Sohei Thoth’s exploration of wireless power coupling in his JT systems. Here I show the effect of distance on mutual coupling and resonant modes, and the effect of tuning the receiving coil by adding capacitance. Also please see my much higher power wireless demos, where I show the “supernova mode” resonance that does NOT show the normal 1/r-squared dependence on distance, within its limited range. This phenomenon shows, I believe, that the power is not “broadcast” but rather is link-coupled, line-cast, with very little lost in the actual transmission…if any.
