Extreme High Voltage: ZVS Royer Oscillator Driving Flyback Transformer, Jacob’s Ladder
The Flyback transformer is driven by a dedicated Royer oscillator Zero Voltage Switching configuration. I used 2 x IRFP260n mosfets, but I also tried IRFP460 which work but get warmer in operation. A few small modifications to the Wireless Transmitter circuit turns it into a lower-frequency, resonant flyback transformer driver, the ZVS oscillator. Here I show the basic Jacob’s Ladder, much improved operation, running on about 24 volts input from my “brute force” unregulated DC supply.
