‘Vintage’ SWP -Rebuild+Flight

The Silverlit SWP was a micro 2 channel aircraft from 2006. This one, a very kind gift from a friend some years ago, had just a battered airframe left of itself. Found during clearing up last week, I decided to rebuild it ! A new tail was made, new actuator for the rudder wound, gearbox and propeller found (not original propeller, it’s smaller), 3x 1.2V Ni-MH 180mAh batteries found in a bag and charged up, original circuit found in another homemade plane and new aerial fitted made of 30 gauge wire. The front cowling area was Sharpie’d black to look more original and, with having a missing plastic cowl, the prop and gearbox were epoxied in place. Final weight 27g, compared to the stock weight of 25g. Smaller and lighter 120mAh batteries gave a balance that would be very tail heavy, so the larger batteries were used..which also give a longer flight time than the others would have. A bonus, is that with my standard 2 prong connectors from old electronics scrap, the pack can be charged with a home charger or from the transmitter. After some trimming out at the field and with a good 5 or 6 minutes flight time, this aged Silverlit SWP is back in the air 😀 More info on my RCGroups Blog: www.rcgroups.com
