Pat:381970 – coil run + metal blocks

Looking at Nikola Tesla’s US Patent 381,1970 today. The coil was wound as 36 winds per segment x4 segments. I wanted to check that the 30 gauge wire was not shorting. So, built up one of the ‘555 A-Like’ circuits as shown yesterday and tried it out. The coil will probably be covered with electrical tape before the iron wire is added….so I had to see if everything was ok. The middle two connections on the Patent diagram were connected together, to form a regular Positive battery input, as seen often in Joule Thief circuits. The outer 2 then connected as per the ‘555 A-Like’ diagram. Power, is from an Alum/Copper/Galvanized steel and rainwater cell. It runs very well indeed, from the approx 1Volt 20mA cell 🙂 The capacitor in this circuit is a 10uF 16V and the pot is a 20K. Also tried today, out of curiosity of whether I had 2x matching metal blocks, was the capacitance test conducted by KCarrington recently. Such blocks were also shown running within a circuit by Lidmotor some while back. It’s good to see the numbers change and will be useful for future SEC circuit experiments, relating to Dr. Stiffler’s work.
