magnetic flux amplification in the christmas motor
This machine is a replication of the Christmas motor initiated by Ted at www.hereticalbuilders,com. The basic is something between a Newman and a Window motor. But for me it is very different because the winding is not straight along the length , but presents a strong assymetry between the the middle of the coil and the top and bottom. I think there could be something as a Bernouli effect when the magnetic flux escape the coil through the North and South pole. But it is only a thinking. The machine work very well in pure generator and also present a long torque in motor operation. This particuliar build is wound with a litz wire with 7 x 0.125 mm strands. The strands are all isolated and than reconnected in serie ,so i multiply the turns 7 times for only one time the winding tedious work. With the litz wire i can also try other combinations of connection . More discussion at hereticalbuilders. Hopes this helps Laurent
